Today we learnt how to use google docs properly by using a doc which taught a whole range of different things.

Seawalls Tairāwhiti
Yesterday (Tuesday 24th October), our hub was shown the Seawalls Tairāwhiti art.
Seawalls Tairāwhiti was an event where artists came into Gisborne and painted and sprayed pieces of art on walls all around Gisborne with the theme of "save our oceans".
We all chose a piece of art that spoke to us.
I personally chose this art, "Cracked Ink", by Sean Duffel. The reason this art spoke to me is all the detail. To me, the two characters represent humanity. The way their turned away from each other shows how we're ignoring our problems and disagreeing with ourselves. Especially since they have their eyes closed.
I feel that the reason the artist drew blue "waves" along the bottom showed to me that we're trying to cover our problems by trying to cover our dirt and trash with "lovely" water.
I see the objects in the background as coral. For me it's saying how we bleach our coral colorless. But I also see them as if they were the tall ugly buildings that we surround ourselves with.

Shop Day
At Gisborne Intermediate, there is an important day called "Shop Day". What happens is all classes come up with a product to sell at lunchtime of Wednesday 24rd October, tomorrow. Our classes have decided to sell Candy Bags, Candy Floss and Savoury Pies.
The money we earn (or hope to earn) will go to future trips for our class at the end of the term.
We hope we can earn lots.

Report - Drama Teacher
For a Literacy Report, I decided to do mine on the lack of a drama teacher at Gisint, since it had to be school related. This was a practise for the upcoming Assessment (posted before this, scroll down to see).
Report Assessment
As an assessment for literacy, we wrote a report (a topic of anything we wanted) that was marked with the "Student Writing Rubric". This rubric is made of seven parts, Idea, Structure, Organisation, Vocabulary, Sentence Structure, Punctuation and Spelling. The highest mark you could get using this Rubric is 42 which gets you to level 6b. This piece of mine got the mark 42 landing me at 6b, the highest mark.
This piece is about the counseling at Gisint.

Science Fair Poster
The Science Fair Poster is quite different from the Science Fair Project. Instead of testing an experiment, you demonstrate an explanation of anything in the Material World, Living World, etc. Eg. Animal Life-Cycle, The Water Cycle.
For my Science Poster, I decided to do the Life Cycle of a Butterfly.
Science Fair
Science Fair is a project for all students (year 8 and 7) have to participate in. The success criteria for our Science Topic is fairly simple. It can be anything in the Living World, Planet Earth and Beyond, Physical World or the Material World. It had to include all the basics of a Science Project, hypothesis, purpose, method, conclusion, etc. For my Science Project, I decided to work together with another student of mine, CJ. Together, we came up with our project. "Does Sight Affect Taste?".
Last week Wednesday, Gisborne Intermediate's Drama Club performed four amazing plays! There was, "The Daydream After Halloween" (Parody of The Nightmare before Christmas), "Missing Tooth", "The Heart Breaker" and "Kill the Lights".
In Kill the Lights, I performed as one of the two main characters, Persephone Thanatos, a serial killer and professional actress. Here are a few pictures from "Kill the Lights"

My Speech
This is my speech, I hope you like it.
In order to make this video, I used a Chrome Extension called "Loom". The link takes you to a video of me rehearsing my speech (just my screen seen) on loom's site.
My speech is about "Why Manga is Better than American Comics". To have a better understanding, click on the link to the video and I'll explain 😊

My Profile
Hello, my name is Chenoa. I am 12 years old and go to Gisborne Intermediate School. Obviously, I live in Gisborne, New Zealand. I live in a family of twelve, including my parents, with only two step brothers which means I have eight full siblings.
I've always been an at or above learner in most subjects (math, literacy, science, etc). A couple of things I enjoy doing are reading and I am somewhat good at netball. A goal for math, which I've never been particularly good at, is to expand upon my knowledge of geometry and algebra. Something I am being challenged with is to find out the extent of my own personality and my true self. (Sounds like an anime protag plot. “I will go far and wide to discover the me… Inside of me” *dun dun duuuun*)
I recently got into a band for school, I’m really hoping that I will do well in it. In the band, I am one of the three singers, some of the people that inspired me to sing were Chloe Moriando, cavetown, and Dodie Clark. Their style of singing is very sweet and slow (usually) and they covers for some of my favorite song writers (such as, Gorillaz, PATD, MCR and each other, occasionally)
